It had been.. years. Kings were not uncommon. Every country had one, or, a queen, at least, after all. Yet, the country of Metzo - a large and prosperous country, lead by a sickly old king, was rather well-known. They had called it a miracle when the widowed King's Mistress became heavy with child. Their would be an heir, after all. The blood line of the King would continue in a strong, youthful child. All seemed happy, save for.. one man and his acquaintances. Brother to the king, a much younger man who would take the throne when his brother died, was less than pleased when he heard this news. He'd considered killing the woman under the guise of it being an accident. No, that.. wouldn't work. After all, that would be much too obvious. His brother's health became worse in the following nine months. She gave birth to a healthy Baby boy, although this brother, well-planned, and a master of bribery, had all control over this birth. Without the woman knowing, without even his brother knowing, he, the doctor, and others stole the child in secret. The marked him - cursed the infant, to ensure he could never hope to reclaim the throne, and then.. left him in the woods outside their kingdom. Even if he survived, there was surely no hope.

He lied, stating the youth had fallen ill soon after birth, and died. He had many to confirm this story, and two years later, when his ailing brother died without an heir, he became king of the Metzo kingdom.

This cursed child had some luck. A lonely old forest woman, a recluse in many ways, had found the starving child. As he cried, she, living amongst the large wolves of the woods, managed to feed him off the milk of a recently pregnant she-wolf. He was accepted, and while learning some language, b the time he was six, the curse was taking effect. Dormant in his younger years, now it filled his belly with a raging hunger. It overtook him. One night, he was filled with unbearable pain, losing consciousness. In weeks that passed, wolves began to disappear. And then, one day.. so had the woman. This "curse" changed him, changing the small boy's mind into a carnal one that knew only hunger. Even it seemed to learn, as well, however. It no longer ate its comrades, but became a pack member of the wolves, despite its different appearance.

At first, it hunted dear, large pray within the woods. But even those no longer satiated this demon's hunger. Rumors began to spread of a three headed, sleek dog with triangle-shaped heads, with blue, crack-shaped lines crawling along its tight flesh. These rumors told of a monster that boldly ate hunters, and children who stayed out too late in the night. Within months, these rumors seemed fact. Bars began to post bounties on the "Cerberus". Drunken men blathered horrifying tails about how they'd nearly lost a leg to those hungry jaws.

And the child, now eight, was still unaware of his.. changes. This child, with a black-colored crest upon his left cheek, lived as "normally" as a boy could in the woods.

Names weren't necessary with wolves, but, "his" name was Sven.

This beast had made a mistake, though. A group of young foreign men had gone missing, and the badly chewed skull, minus its lower jaw, of one had been found. Only one of the group had survived, with severe injuries to his side and arms. The important thing, however.. was that he described this beast - this Cerberus. That, and the fact that these foreigners were close friends to Red - a rather notorious, and successful man. He could be called a hunter, of sorts..

It had been a weak since then. And with his recent, large meals, Sven's unexpected changes were reserved for occasional nights. One day, perhaps the cursed child could learn to control it - at least, if he even realized its existence. But for the moment, he was a content little boy, running about naked, his lightly sun-kissed little body dressed only in shorts, and a large, dirty shirt, left by the woman he had once lived with. A soft smile touched the brunette boy's lips as he stepped through a small stream, following the tracks of his "family".

"Too fast!.."

He whined palyfully, receiving a far off yip in return.

With the cries not too far off, Red noticed something strange in the air. A smell of human presence, a boy. Red followed the boy, who was trailing behind a pack of wolves. Such a boy would be an excellent choice for an apprentice. Red was so caught up in his intrigue of the boy, he'd lost focus as to why he was traveling the trails. What was a boy doing in such a dangerous area anyhow?

Red's purpose was to find and set up some sort of ambush for the Cerberus that had been ravaging travelers bringing them good business. The recent massacres had led the town and outside towns to fear. Red was responsible, with his reputation and successes, to find and slay the beast. His heart sunk as he saw the boy catching up to the pack and was easily accepted within their naturally passive behaviors. This boy was a pack member, if not a leader. His mind began to rush, he wanted to save the boy before he'd become some kind of horrible outcast to society if he was found.

Hours went by, Red waited for the pack to distance themselves before he approached the boy. He cleared his throat and held an apple in his hand, something to lure the boy with. With his approach, he'd test the boy's intelligence and current understanding of people. He'd obviously made it along, being clothed and somewhat groomed. "Hey there..." Red started. "You hungry?"

It would indeed take a while for Red to catch young Sven all on his own. As a human, he was regarded as a pack puppy, played with and tended to like any other. But, as Cerberus, he was a powerful leader, that even the Alpha seemed to accept and follow. He spent much of that day playing, and it became obvious that his diet, as a human, was only very small pieces of meat, and for the most part, consisted of berries and wild fruits - something his missing "human mother" had taught him. But it had been hours since he'd eaten, when Red first approached.

He was back at the stream, sitting, completely clothed, in the water. He was examining and collecting certain pebbles from the bottom. Yet another hobby learned from his past, human caretaker. Sven's speech wasn't the best, understandably. He hadn't learned language passed the age of seven, and even now, the small boy was beginning to forget. As Red approached, he stopped, dropping his collected treasures and jerking back. This was his first time seeing a human male, and with great hesitence, he approached.

Sven know how to move on two legs, but, for the sake of being careful, moved on hands and knees. Extending small digits to quickly snatch the fruit away.

"Yes, mine."

he said quickly, settling his toosh back in the water with a small splash, and greedily beginning to eat.

Red's assumptions were true - the boy was feral, wild as the pack he traveled with. However, he had a bit of social ethic left in him, which made him a developed and wonderful candidate for his apprentice. "Say, do you know how to hunt the rabbits and other animals out here?" Red's question was something innocent until it struck him.

Red's eyes widened with opportunity written all over the boy's face. "What's your name?" The boy would be his apprentice, he had to be. Someone as experienced, in tune with nature and familiar with the lands could help him track the horrid beast that had been ravaging the trails. "Have you seen a monster 'round her lad?" Red's old accent began to fall out as he was becoming passionate once again. Years ago an apprentice had brought him to be himself in the public that was prejudice to his outlandish ways, but he'd become such a great success, why would he care?

"Well boy, I'll feed ya plenty if you have time to take a walk with me, yeah?" The old Scottish accent was tipping off his tongue, showing his true bearings, letting the boy see he meant no harm. "It's up to you, I'll bring ya back safe and sound to yer pack as well." Red nodded and waited to see what the boy had to say.

Of course, for the moment, Sven was thoroughly enjoying his meal. he sat in the water, his shorts, his shirt, thoroughly soaked as he gnawed the flesh of the apple, sucking at the juices that escaped before taking large bites, shredding the piece of fruit. He ate like an animal, that was for sure. And while he seemed rather intrigued with Red, his attention was, for the most part, on his food. He only stopped when questioned, already half the apple down his throat, another piece being chewed. He managed to keep his lips closed, half the time, but the other half, little bits of juice would slide down from the corners of his mouth.

"Huh? Yeah, you 'mash 'em."

Sven stated simply. Well, the woman taught him a few ways. As Cerberus, rabbits were small prey. But, as a human, he could catch a rabbit, or small animal off guard, and indeed, "smash them", with a rock, or something. Simple traps were employed, sometimes, if he had the patience. Other times, he fed off of scraps from the wolves.

"Sven, 'kay? Only monster here is you.."

He pointed a messy, sticky finger at Red. Well, Red was indeed strange to him. And he showed no shyness about giggling over the male's apparent accent.He'd never heard such a way of talking! With only a few bite's worth remaining in the apple, it was tossed far off into the water, before he pressed sticky digits into the cool water. Red definitely had the boy's attention with the promise of more food.

"Mmm.. 'kay."

He didn't put much thought into it, and soon stood from the water. Realizing that his clothes were soaked, his shorts were tugged off, set on a rock, leaving him only in a shirt that was soaked up to the chest. Oh well.. his shorts needed to dry. Spending but a moment wiping off his sticky little lips, the feral youth stepped up to Red, eying him briefly.

"What're you?"
