The battle had been more than he had expected. More than a clash of blades that brought those around to their feet. Indeed he had been one of the better there- in many ways. His body had only been torn several times at his legs, nothing so serious like the men that lay scattered by his side shredded to meaty pieces. Spirits had been high the moment they had been drawn into battle, one side pushing into the other ruthlessly, many on horse back which quickly skewered those before them without any remorse. The battle had been going fairly well for his side, most of the other's best riders had gone down until another man flipped the tide. Slaying several of his allies in one swoop in addition to marring his legs through the armor that he wore. Hissing at the pain, he could remember the eyes of those around him; filled with fear for their families as the blood that washed the ground mounded, growing heavier to water the foliage in a nasty bath. Gasping he tugged at his armor, the pieces giving way while protesting to give the man the room to check himself. Never had this happened before in his career, he couldn't remember such a defeat, nor the fall of so many comrades. There bodies littering the area like rubbish.

Gritting his teeth in anguish he drew the metal from his legs, spying the deep cuts that ran up his skin going straight to the bone. The air around stung far more than the cramped casing they had been in previously. Wishing with his might for this to be some foul dream, he was shook further as the other side withdrew. Captives in their wake, all but he being taken. The lands opened dangerously to him within minutes- wild beast coming out to feast upon those to battered to rise and those destroyed. He whimpered some- biting his tongue as he drew his blade close. Leaving his wounds where they where, blood staining the air heavily as death hung, mingling with those around. Ravens circled in turn with the more carnivorous birds that lurked the nearest wood, alerting creatures of the night whom normally preyed on weaker counterparts of the feast at hand.

His eyes stared up at the darkness that clouded his vision, he felt like he was fading from the enviable that was going to come upon him. With such bad wounds he would surely he unable to rise, let alone defend his back if he was attacked by some snarling beast, but that was what he was pit with. Only hoping that he could muster enough strength to trudge on his beaten body parts. Hoping they would hold together until finding a refuge. Indeed there was an inn nearby, but his chance of making it there was slim, even in his condition there was a better chance that the beasts would strike him down well before he left the mounds that would soon become ill forgotten graves around. The enemy hadn't even left them men to tend to the dead, simply leaving the bodies to rot and stink up the beautiful area.

Whimpering slightly at the sight of his comrade being devoured he drew his blade closer, before pointing it in the direction of a wold; daring the beast to try him. Yet the carnivore simply went back to his meal, tail flicking the air in a nonchalant manner. He was to be left alone while the feast around him was warm. His eyes hot, mind racing as he drew the blade back- surely he was the only man alive at this point, but there was no point thinking such without really knowing as he called out. "Hello" his voice barely piercing the still grounds around. As much as he wished to be saved, he wished it to simply end- the pain was almost too much for him to bare.

Fear had taken him much earlier on, after the attacks at his legs and he had fallen. The sensation didn't seem to leave him as he continued to defend to hapless state, hoping his call did reach someone's ears. Though that didn't quite help him out, just by calling he could have easily signaled for another to come and finish him. Seeing the young squire appear to him, made him slightly loose his nerve. None of his side had lived where still here, he must have been from the other side. He concluded and held himself inside- helmet protecting his face and helping him from showing the child how truly chilled he was about seeing him. Though it all faded away for the moment when hearing that the child would help him. That was enough to put him at east as he held in a scream from the pain of his legs, eyes staying on the boy. He nodded without much thought and gave his name- "Zechariah" the name was a very uncommon one, one that had only been used in scriptures before. Well that and along side a very well known priest and an oracle. There was chance that he was one of the two, but what would a priest or an oracle be doing on the battlefield- unless forced?

He grit his teeth watching as the boy swiftly went to clean him, bandaging right after. How would they get him out though? He'd probably only be able to stand on his damaged legs for a few minutes, no more without keeling over in horrible pain. The horses proved an answer, but capturing one would be a bit of a problem for the youth. Would it not be? That was unless they where truly as trained as the other said they where.

Staying where he was, he watched the youth as he swiftly was of to gather a horse. He himself looked over the bandage that the boy had given him, it would work for now, but it wouldn't hold up for very long. Especially considering it would probably unravel from him standing, at least he had his blade- which could help ease him. Just he wouldn't be able to defend from doing such a thing. Despite this he dug his blade into the ground, watching as the youth returned with the horse and held it close. He nodded. "Thank you" he spoke, digging the blade in a bit as he slowly rose, using it much like a cane. The blade was beautiful, something no other could forget once they laid eyes on it. It was twisted and fashioned in a manner that it resembled an angel's wing, being his signature weapon that was to be said of lure. Propping his form up, strong arms, holding the handle stiff as he tried to maneuver. Pulling his legs forward. It was a good thing he had upper body strength, otherwise he wouldn't get anywhere with this. Swinging himself to the side he was at the horse's side. [b]"I'll be fine.."[b/] he spoke, loosely releasing his blade as he grabbed to the horse's saddle.

Trying with his might he swung his legs up, only making it on the third try to be sitting against the horse's back. His legs hurting from the way he let them flail; hand slowly grabbing at his angel blade. He didn't leave it to others to gather, it was his blade- no others.

With the other helping him out, towards what seemed an inn- he looked a bit pale when he was lifted up by the others. He was indebted to them, yes as they bandaged and stitched up his legs as they went. After sometime he was on a bed, eyes narrowed slightly as he stared out towards the window. It was night, he could tell easily as he scanned the images he could barely see in the darkness. Mind thinking back to his predicament and what would he do to get back home? He was so close, but at the same time this other believed that he was apart of their side. If he was, wouldn't he wear some other sort of armor- not what he was garbed in? Yes his was rather odd compared to what others saw, it seemed completely out of place at times, but maybe that was why he survived. The armor looking much like an 'angel' just like his blade, but it hadn't saved him from the damage that ensued against his legs. Shifting to look away, his eyes glared at the room around, there weren't others here- or maybe there was? He couldn't bend to look over his body, scared that he would tear himself right open and be subjected to the same sowing procedure.

Muttering to himself, after sometime he slipped to a faint rest. Hearing words while in his slumber, his body attempted to shift, his senses flinging straight into reality as his hand grasped his thigh. Had he opened himself again? No he was in the same position as before, it just hurt. He couldn't bend to see why as he tried to ignore the pain, teeth in his lip as he felt a slight trickle of red. Oh- now he had something else to worry about as a bit of blood pooled in his mouth. The irony tastes coming within.

It was like he hadn't even thought about the fact that the boy was here, though evidently it all clicked in his head when the boy came in with a tray for him and he was there holding his thigh in pain. Embarrassment struck him for a moment, maybe it was the boy or his enfeebled state? No one could really tell as he knit his brows for a moment before exhaling, the feeling from his legs was intense. Was it the wounds and the way of healing? Quite possible as his eyes told the boy everything- it was pain that shook his orbs to a pale blue. Blinking a few times it seemed it took him quite a bit to understand what the other said or at least it took that long for it to sink into his head, he seemed to pause then speak. "Yes. But I imagine its simply how they'll be for a while.." he stated flatly, none to happy about this. Yes he had his life, he was thankful, but at this point he'd prefer to look at it a bit more 'pessimistically'. He lived on his legs, much like others with their hands had they been an artisan. Any other would agree with him, though he wouldn't have been happy had he lost his arms personally- much like his other comrades that had fallen or been taken captive he had actually gotten off rather easy. He could still move around and such, as much as he was limited he'd be up and running in a few months. That was if his enemies didn't end him after figuring out who they had.

Glancing somewhat hard at the other he grit his teeth- had he learned the boy's name? probably, but he'd forgotten, silly him. Looking away he seemed to try and focus if he knew the other. It didn't matter so much did it though? His ears twitched slightly as he laid there, hands recoiling from his thighs- he couldn't even reach where his legs hurt anyway.

The boy was very much thoughtful when it came down to things, but their was always the fact that he was slightly suspicious. Eyes on the other as he was handed the tablets, eying them for a moment he thought his mind through. Besides if this was something that would kill him, he would have gladly taken that instead of being tortured or enslaved like the others that this side had taken in. Accepting the drink he guzzled it down without caring how he looked, placing the glass back in the other's hand before he looked away. Only time would tell him exactly what the other had given him, in due time the pain would slowly ease away from him- giving him a much more needed rest, something he had been waiting for, for quite some time at this point. Especially after he'd woken up from the pain itself. Glancing at him, he turned away after hearing the other. What would he want to eat? He didn't want food, even though at the moment his system craved what would save its legs from becoming mere memories in his past. Muttering something, it was very much possible that he had said something remotely like a 'thank you', but at the same time it could have been anything else. After sometime, he finally went back to looking at the youth, his eyes on the plate. He didn't care what the other fed him, he personally just wished he was asleep at this point. Eyes staring at the other in a piercing and animalistic manner.

The other was persistent, he would need that when working with the knight. After his somewhat cautious actions towards the youth- it would take some time for the two to even have a trust in each other. Or at least for the big proud knight to regard the other as anything less than a savage. As with anything it would take time, maybe by the time his legs where fully operational he'd have a different view of the boy as he was a bit of porridge. Mouth slowly opening after a grumble. He had teeth, a full set despite being a knight- it was rather useful as he let the other feed him much like a child.

This wasn't the sort of position he ever wanted to be in, he was already having seconds thoughts about being alive. Why hadn't he been taken in battle? He'd fallen after a massive hit to his legs, the other knight had probably thought he'd die there. Well the other was without a doubt wrong, clenching his hands into fists- he still held a large amount of hatred. For the battle and the loss in itself, had they never been to war, this would have never happened to him. He could have lived a normal life and maybe even played around a bit or get married. Now he'd never know, who would want an impaired knight?

Indeed the knight was a rather stubborn man of sorts, one to easily persist on something without much base on it. Maybe that was why he had become a knight, not for the thrill, but for how stubborn he was. Yet that was anyone's guess as he took in whatever the youth gave him, reluctantly but he at it nonetheless. Watching as the boy placed the tray down with its contents and curled up to his side. Had this been a true knight, Zechariah would have torn him in half, then again he really couldn't do more than sit up with excruciating pain. So all he was able to do was watch as the boy drew to his side like a moth to the flame and rested against him like he was a pillow.

His hand barely went past the boy's forehead as he rested his palm on the child's top. His fingers tightening in the boy's hair. He had the will to yank the boy off him, but not the strength. Grumbling as he saw the child fall fully asleep, he too felt like doing the same as he let out an annoyed sigh. "cute kid..." he admitted in a whisper as he dug his fingers in tighter to the other's hair, it looked like he was stroking him. He wasn't even pulling the boy, he was making sure he was still there as he too drifted off into slumber land. What else was there for him to do?

He wasn't as on edge with the other as he started to 'bond' with the boy, letting the tyke sleep by his side as he progressed through his healing. Then he was saddled up with the child and brought elsewhere. He didn't seem to fight as much at this point, though he was something defiant all the same. Sleeping about as long as he could with his legs so damaged, the scabs had become a rather annoying thing. They itched at a constant- something that he didn't want to do, but was seen doing occasionally; the boy pushing his hands away each time as he tried to scratch them up. The itching wouldn't have been as bad as waiting for the scab to return, but he hadn't quite thought into the future at that point about it.

Now he was simply resting, used to having the youth by his side. He had even come to terms with pulling him slightly on his chest, not much more than that. Zechariah was becoming accustomed to this sort of life, it was very much laid back, but he needed that for now until he was fully healed. Hearing the little boy scream out 'Bath Time' he had already gotten into a slightly awakened mental state, it just proved that the night didn't want to move as the boy came close. Ready to work on his legs, then the boy called what had become his pet name. A slight peep of his right eye seen as the lazy steel pupil stared at the other. He didn't want to move, he liked when he was able to sleep.

The place he was at, was rather comforting for him. Though he would have never admitted it, his mother was quite the woman and her dishes where something he quite liked. Yet he wouldn't admit to such things and simply nodded towards the woman in his way of thanks. He had wanted to ask the boy about the war, hoping that someone had one or that a truce had come about it, but he figured with both sides it would take much more time than his mending wounds would give him. Hearing the young squire acknowledge that he had seen through his own 'sleeping' trick, he seemed to just show his full alter mind, but reacting to the boy at times. Keeping his eyes closed as the boy drew close to him, since he wished to just retire again. Go back to resting.

With the cover pulled back, he eyed the younger individual. Watching as he went straight at his legs then asked for the tall knight to produce himself virtually naked. It hurt his pride, but that was the least of his worries as he slowly took a sitting position and pulled the top off without much of a fuss. The boy had gotten to him slowly and now he seemed more at ease to do what he said, but that was after he was fully awake. Within seconds he was staring at the boy intensely, not speaking like usual. Words seemed to elude him unless he truly wanted to stress something. He turned away as the other started at his toes, the boy had been trying hard to find a place he was weak at and it seemed today he had found a small area that had become ticklish to the boy's persistence.

He let out a soft chuckle, his cheeks reddening slightly as he turned away. Yet he couldn't resists as the other continued to roll over it, his mouth producing soft giggles.

The boy seemed even more joyous as he found a ticklish spot on the knight, it had indeed taken the boy some time to even find the place, but not he had it. The knight kept giggling as the other went on before he froze, cringing as the other settled the basin back in its original place; he then went to blankly stare at the boy. Whether when he did this, he was trying to make the boy uncomfortable or not was hard to say as the boy grew closer to him and started to clean higher than his healing legs. Staying near him as he scrubbed on, he drew his lips to the boy's ear as if in a retribution for seeing him turn pink.

Kissing the soft flesh as the other drew closer, he didn't stop there as he licked the top of the other's ear. In truth the knight was slowly growing ever fond of the boy, especially considering the little one slept beside him and there was no other way around the knight having the boy as a second small blanket. Within seconds he let off a grin, pressing a finger to the boy's nose. "Yes..." he said teasing the boy equally back as he seemed to hold a strong yet childish expression to himself for the first time before the boy. As much as he was a noble and strong knight, he could indeed be childish and being around the squire had opened this side up of him once more. Not so much, but enough to make him do what he had done.

Had the boy understood what he did? Frankly it was hard to tell as he let the other scrub his body a bit more. His guard having fallen as the other continued his work. Then the child had kissed him, his cheek bore the same red from before but for a different reason as he eyed the boy. He hadn't even realized that he was slowly falling for the boy, to him it was unheard of- even though he had seen some of the other knights that he had lived with go with it. He didn't dare speak of what he had seen and here he was, falling just like them. Eying the boy as he drew back and taunted him, he quickly flushed the expression from his face. This was how the squire was going to play with him? Well he'd play right back.

When the boy turned as if to grab the basin, he drew forward despite his legs and let a few kisses trailing down the boy's neck. He had needed to remove the long strands of hair first, but he made quick work of it before pulling back quickly as if excepting the boy to do something else to him. They'd probably keep playing like that, it was quite possible. It just all depended on the two really. Turning he tried to twist his torso away, but it didn't budge as he slowly tried to face away from the boy. Instead all he was able to do was lay straight back down, not even wearing his shirt now as he rested again. His chest rising softly as he watched the boy, one arm folding under his head while the other just glossed through his own hair. He wasn't trying to attract the boy, but it seemed his subconscious was.
