Everything seemed to whiz by or whirl around her head. Then again that was how the battles that raged inside her heart where driven into her mind, blade slipping from its sheathe with unbelievable speed as the men around her dropped like flies. Blood spilling left and right as she watched their shocked expressions melt into horror for the appearance of quite a young individual with such a mastery of the sword. Samurai. Indeed she was as she shifted her right heel, pushing up her small body from the ball of her foot to bring her skyward. Wooden sandals clicking against the tiled rooftops as she stared down at the massacre below. Men had fallen, equally fast to that of those that tried to master the sword; the weaklings always weeded out as years wore on. The carcasses that remains where nothing that she needed to worry for as she ran off- it was her job to kill. The thrill of driving a blade clear through another living creature fueled her undying lust for the sport. No wonder the thin framed female had taken up such a deadly art- red locks whipping dangerously behind her form. Pulling into a long winding pony tail that danced with the wind as she ran off.

Battosai. The name struck fear into the hearts of many, if they knew of the female that wore the name proudly and viciously they would swiftly prompt her with a question: how? How could a female become the most feared individual to all those around, a mass murderer who thrived on the death of her foes like cattle on the grass. As far as she was concerned her targets where worthless, a simple obstacle she needed to eliminate for the better of society. They would all fall, whether her judgment was just or unjust. She was simply told what her target was and the man/woman would be dead within the hour or day. Whichever she choose to make it as she skidded off down the nearest rode, her colors flying blindly by her back as she went. Markings running up her garments to score the men she had killed throughout this journey- stains that meant as much as the dead bodies; simply a count.

How many had it been this time? Thirty? Forty? She grinned at the thought of the lying bodies that would be discovered in due time, wanting so dearly to watch the expressions on the faces of those that would find them, but there was no time for that. She needed to leave, find a safe place to rest and simply wait. Someone would surely come to her soon as she took to the nearest trees, running under their branches as she kept a hand always on her blade. The x shaped scar on her left cheek showing full well whom she was.

The moon glowed with a ghastly red glow on the night a lone ninja spotted a swordsman nearing the woods. On the other side of the woods stood the proud city Kyoto, though now, during the Bakumatsu, little could be seen other than steel, blood, and death. The ninja, a high ranked member of the Oniwabanshu, was charged with the task of killing all revolutionaries that attempted to approach or leave the woods.

Having dropped her former name when she joined the Oniwabanshu, the kunoichi's new name was simply Rin. She smiled, not having had anything interesting to do in quite a while as she pulled out six poisoned needles and quickly threw them at the samurai. The poison wasn't lethal, just made it's victim a bit dizzy and off balance. After throwing the needles, Rin quickly dropped to the ground and waited for her victim to appear, though he or she would have a hard time finding her because she was hidden quite well because of her tight black body suit and long black hair's ability to blend in with the darkness of the night. The only thing that could be seen is the thin slit of white skin above her mask so she could see.

As she ran, she stood alert with every step- hearing the slight creak of the woods and the whistle of the drats towards her. Swiftly she withdrew her hilt, placing it inches between her and the darts as they collided with the wood, burrowing in within seconds. Her eyes glanced over the small pieces that had been meshed together to create such a thing- no amature (how do you spell it?) could create it. Flicking them off with her blade she sat her blade back at her sides as she went. Mind alter as she ran on. She wouldn't be able to see the ninja before her, but that didn't bother her in the least. She could easily dodge with her thin body.

Rin reached for her weapons and drew her favorites, her twin kodachis. She began to run towards her opponent and as soon as she got within reach, she slashed with both swords, aiming the one in her left hand at the woman's throat, and the one in the right at her legs. She ran several steps more, heading into the shadows so that she could not be seen, though a keen ear could still keep a bit of an idea were she was.

She had been ready and braced herself as the sound of soft feet was against the forest floor. Within seconds her blade collided with the other's meant for her neck as she shielded part of her legs. Indeed a bit of the blade had sunk in but it barely did more than a scratch. She could live with that as she narrowed her eyes, ready to defend if need be.

Rin smirked as she saw the little red stain on her blade and ran back and forth, throwing one needle at a time in her attempt to get at least one of the darts stuck in her. Once she had done this three or four times, she ran back at her, this time swinging both at her neck in an almost scissor like attack.

This was ending up being a rather haphazard fight for her, hearing the darts once again they stuck to her sheathe- then the other's more forward attack she blocked again. Stuck in the position of simply defending, her eyes flickered dangerously as she blew the darts off with a reckless attack around her. Blades swinging in every directions as if craving the trees around, ah yes she was battosai- was she not?

Rin smirked. She hadn't fought against someone who could live past more than two attacks in a long time. She knew that she shouldn't care, but she began to worry a little bit about her opponent and who he or she was. After waiting in the shadows for a minute while thinking and giving the warrior a false sense of security, she decided to check the body out after she killed her and would THEN ask about them. She charged in once more, using the scissor-like attack again but this time aiming at its torso, planning on cutting her opponent clean in half.

She knew the tricks others could employ, understanding that a moments grace wasn't a reason that the enemy had left. Hearing the other's feet again he blocked, this time only using her blade as she thrusted the tip of her sheathe towards the other's head meaning to knock her hard and damage her vision for the time being. Intent on stopping this attack somehow.

Rin gasped as her forehead was stuck very hard and suddenly. In her shock, she dropped one of her swords and brought her hand up to her forehead, feeling her mask stick to her forehead, meaning that she had made her bleed. Deciding that this person whom she still hadn't gotten a good look at was a very formidable opponent, she retreated to the shadows and hid, formulating a new plan.
