PostSubject: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptySat Dec 27, 2008 9:37 pm

Letting out a sigh Ri scanned the area, something was different in the air, he could tell it. The wolf-like ears that were perched on top of his head stood straight up and twitched at even the slightest noise he heard. Whatever was up, it was making him antsy…he hated feeling antsy. Whenever he felt antsy it always involved humans, he hated humans.

Some asked him why he hated humans, it was simple, they hated him. Well..more like they hated his kind. They rather shoot and kill them than anything else. Why like something that tries to kill you? It didn’t make sense to Ri, and he would rather die than get all ‘cozy’ with a human like some of the flee invested mutts did. Yeah, he didn’t like the human’s pets either. There were a difference, there were Ri’s kind which were wolves, and then the humans had pets called dogs. The dogs were nearly as bad as their owners.

Letting out of a huff he moved off from the windowsill he was sitting on stretching to his full six feet three inch height. He was in an abandoned building, four stories off the ground. Not many people actually looked up so he didn’t have to hide his ears or his matching black tail that swished irritably behind him. His eyes bounced off the walls, even though he was alone in the building, he always looked around, always on guard. He didn’t trust others, didn’t want to, he rather be alone than in a pack. Which he was often criticized about, wolves were supposed to be in a pack, it was natural. Ri was in one, the key word ‘was’. His head of flooded with memories and images he groaned and shook his head, a low growl in his throat developed at the thoughts.

Ri slid his hands into the pocket of his black pants while he started to pace around the small room. The building was probably an apartment building or anything, even though most of the doors were gone, windows blown out. There was a fire in the building a while ago and none of the humans took time to fix the place up. That was fine with Ri, it meant shelter. Even though he also was in other abandoned buildings he was often run out by a pack that might be coming by, he usually decided against fighting for a silly room. Even though Ri was a good fighter, he reserved his strength for fighting when needed or when he was in the mood. Usually he turned away from a fight with an alpha because if he won that would mean taking charge of the pack, which he didn’t want, he liked living alone. Actually he was probably all to used to it, it had been four years since…

Turning abruptly he walked out of the door to the apartment, the window he was sitting in was one that was blown, only a concrete opening where the window was had remained. The view was nice and he got a good peek at things, but he was tired of just sitting around, he wanted to see what might be going on with the humans, though he would stay in the shadows. The black shirt that he wore helped keep him in shadows and not be seen.

Stepping out into an alley he started to walk, knowing the city pretty well because he hadn’t really traveled outside of the city for a long time. He knew you could get anywhere through the alleys, and still stay mainly in the shadows. It was early in the morning and dark thick rain clouds were developing above head giving everything a grayish feel to them. Ri’s eyes went up to the sky and then back to in front of him. Finally the smell hit him and his body tensed, his ears straightened and all his senses heightened…new wolves.

Pushing off he broke out into a sprint down the alley. His twenty-two year old features were calm and didn’t give away any emotion. He slowed when he was coming across one of the main roads, most humans weren’t out yet. He was curious as to the new wolves; there hadn’t been any in a while. Ri was just planning on watching and what not.

“Lets go.”
“But what about-”
A strong growl cuts him off.
“Leave her. She’s of no more use anyways.”

Thunder galloped through the sky chasing the lighting and awakening the sleeping child form the pile that she had been laying under. Yes, under. She looked around confused and managed to dig her way out from beneath the pile that, had it not been for the thunder, might have slowly cut off the air supply and left her dead beneath it. She shook her body off much like a dog would and she sot out shelter beneath the cover of a building as she looked around and she sniffed the air. The lightning chases the rain and the thunder chases the lighting but what does the rain chase? The rain chases away the scents of anything that has been in the area, including the rest of her pack.

The child’s eyes widened as she ran out into the rain, the black hat that she had been wearing was gone, exposing a pair of golden ears to the cold rain. They twisted as she tried to listen for the voices of the others and she sniffed the air but was not able to pick up a scent. She looked around and could find not trace of which way they had gone. She went back to the pile that she had awoken beneath, it was a pile of trash bags. She didn’t even know how she had managed to get there but she did and upon reaching down beneath the pile she was able to find her hat. It was a beret, black with a little ball on the top of it and when she put it on it covered her golden ears. The girl didn’t have much on to fight off the chill of the rain so she hugged herself and she shuttered as she looked around.

She had on a short dress that was not even long enough to hide all of her golden tail which would have been poking out of the bottom of it had a black trench coat not been long enough to hide it. She had on some very long white sock white were stained with dirt and not so white any more along with some cute marry-jane buckle shoes. She did not look like she should be on the street like she was she looked like she should be in some kind of doll house. Her light brown hair was not soaked to her head and her blood red eyes scanned the area for the sight of the pack that had left her behind.

“Luka!” the girl called out into the rain, she ran to another area and called, “Tony! Sarah! Jake!” the child called out as she ran around looking for the rest of her friends. But the pack was long moved on and the child began to shiver as the rain soaked through her clothing leaving her wet, cold and alone. She looked around, the rain hiding several tears that had managed to slip from her eyes and she resorted to the last resort of a lost wolf demon. She tilted her head back and she howled. The howl echoed through the city, the silence of the night broken by the howl of the lone wolf, if she could even be called a wolf at this age. Some might consider this thirteen year old to be no more then a pup.

The girl then stood there, she removed her hat so she could hear better but there was no howl returning hers. There was no pack coming back for her or answering her call. Her eyes widened and more tears were hidden by the rain. How could they have left her like this? No. No they couldn’t have left her! They couldn’t! They couldn’t have left her behind! She tilted her head back and she let out another howl, longer and louder this time, trying to attract the attention of her pack and let them know that they left her behind. Maybe then they would come back for her and she could be a p[art of the pack again. She howled a third time and even a fourth one, desperately hoping to be heard by her pack so that she would not have to be alone.

She did manage to attract someone’s attention, not the attention that she wanted though. A window opened on one of the building and thunder sounded through the sky. Only there was no lightning and suddenly she was in pain. It only took her a moment to realize that it had not been thunder but a gun shot and the shot had been at her. She yelped in pain as the bullet punctured her arm, going straight through it and leaving her arm in a lot of pain. She looked around frantically and another bullet was shot, this one scrapped her cheek leaving a scratch on her porcelain skin.

The girl dashed for cover, hearing a third shot go off but she didn’t know where, she was just happy that it didn’t hit her. This was the reason that howling was the last resort. It exposed whom ever decided to open their mouth and howl as a wolf demon and not a normal human. The girl had been stupid, she had refused to believe that they weren’t coming back for her, she refused to admit that she might have to be a lone wolf not and she was even stupid enough to howl more then once, howling until someone had shot her. She might have howled longer had she not been shot at.

The girl managed to pull herself into an alley, her hand clutching her wounded arm and blood spilled down her cheek. She couldn’t tend both wounds so she decided to do the one that was worse. She was no where near ready to be a lone wolf, so young and dressed the way she was it was very like she was a pack pet, something there simply to amuse the alpha of the pack and this is often what happened to pack pets. The alpha got bored of them and either killed them or left them to die. Sometimes they were traded to other packs but it seems that the alpha, her alpha had not been kind enough to do that. That was probably why she had been buried beneath the trash, with hopes that it would kill her and she would be out of the pack’s hair for good.

Poor Riki. Pack pets are not always pets, most likely they come about by pissing off the alpha in some way or, what is more common, revenge for a family member pissing off the alpha. That was what happened to Riki. Her older brother, Seth, had challenged the alpha, he pissed him off, he fought with the alpha and through he lost he managed to take out his eye, leaving him blind in one eye and leaving him with a handicap. A handicap that he was not very happy with and so he took Riki from being a pack pup to a pack pet. Riki was only four and though she barely remembered her brother she still missed him. He had been the last bit of family that she had and after that she had no one, well, at least the pack was there. Now she was hurt, cold and truly alone.

Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptySun Dec 28, 2008 5:19 pm

When the rain started to pour down Ri was wishing he had gotten his jacket, he had left it somewhere because the weather wasn’t that bad lately. He figured a human probably picked it up somewhere. He would just take another one later. He didn’t care if he took things from the humans, when he was hiding among them and was caught steeling he was always yelled at, even though most of the time he just ignored them and ran with his prize – whatever he stole.

Letting out a light sigh, the rain was washing away their scent, he wouldn’t be able to find them now, he figured they were just passing by or something. His senses shot to all new heights when the howl hit his ears, making them ring. “Idiot!” He growled at whoever howled. Definitely someone that wasn’t bright, a wolf should never howl in city limits, they would get killed.

Debating with himself for a little, he couldn’t quite decide if he wanted to check out the wolf that made the call or what. Groaning lightly he shot off in a full run, he was very fast, when the second howl hit his ears he knew exactly where to go. He turned and made a short cut through a few buildings and another alley, it wasn’t too far away from where he was.

More howls and then the reason a wolf never gave themselves away like that, a gunshot, the sound sent ripples of anger through his body. He moved faster and came to skidding stop when his eyes fell on the little one. Just a kid! Ri could barely believe it himself, who would ditch a pup in the city?! Then he took in how the other was dressed, pet. With a huff Ri growled lightly and took off, the sound of yelling came from up the street. He saw her duck in an alley that was across and up from him…then more sounds that made him unnerved. He wasn’t the only wolf living in the city, there were three other packs that actually lived there, none of which Ri got along with.

One of those packs were headed this way because of the howling too, probably curious. If Ri was correct the only pack that would go towards gunshots for some fun of a lost wolf would be Clint and his pack. This rose a growl in Ri’s throat, he hated them the most. He took in a breath and sprinted across the road, because he was mainly in black the gunner didn’t see him, so he didn’t get shot at.

Ri moved into the alley and grabbed the pup by the wrist. “You want to get yourself killed?!” He growled taking off in a run down the alley just as the group of humans came into view on the main road, they had lights. One shined it down the alley and called out, “Down here!”

Ri growled and made a sharp turn, he didn’t even stop to think he might be dragging her along with him, his legs were longer so he moved faster, but his main goal was to make sure they weren’t killed. Another gunshot sounded and the bullet embedded itself into the wall of the alley. Ri made another sharp turn, into a doorway that was hidden by shadows, and was darkness itself, no light what so ever in it. He pushed the girl against the wall and used his body to block hers, so anything from her outfit that might catch a hint of light wouldn’t show. Soon the humans passed without even realizing the doorway. Ri’s ears twitched, no sounds of other wolves either, he figured even for fun they wouldn’t follow humans down an alley when they had guns, so Ri didn’t have to worry about them for now.

“What were you thinking?!” He growled, backing away from her. “Howling like that, and in the middle of the damn city!”

PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptyMon Dec 29, 2008 1:09 pm

She had been shot. She had been shot! She could hardly believe that she had been shot at. She knew that the cities were dangerous, that was why whenever they had been in one before Luke had kept her close to him. He never wanted to loose his pet before and now he had left her to die in one. She could hardly believe any of it. She stood in the alley with her back against the wall as she caught her breath and tried to make sense of what was going on. Her one hand holding the wound on her arm and the other was holding her hat so it didn’t block any sounds from getting to her ears. She didn’t understand it. Why would Luke leave her here to die?

It was then that she heard someone running towards her. She also heard another group but they had a different sound then her own group had. She realized that she must have attracted another pack and her ears went up with a bit of hope. Perhaps they would take her in and she wouldn’t have to be alone here? Then a man came, he was dressed all in black and she could see he didn’t even bother to hide his ears and his tail. He grabbed the wrist that was holding her hat and a small noise of pain escaped her lips as she winced. He happened to grab the wounded arm and before she even had a chance to look back At him he broke into a run.

She was confused. Why were they running? The other pack wouldn’t be able to find her if she ran? Those thoughts quickly left her head because at the speed that the wolf was dragging her she could barely keep up and the shoes that, in now way, shape, or form meant for any sort of practical use, began to come loose form her feet. She didn’t mind much. One of the shoes came off her foot but she found she could run easier without it. That fact surprised her. She always had to wear these shoes so being without one and running faster because of it made her wonder why Luke made her wear them.

Then she heard humans, she heard the gunshot that hit the alley wall and she ran with her, doing more then just trying to keep up with him she was trying to run with him. He knew where to go, how to get away, how to hide. He knew what to do so right now her only chance of survival was with this wolf. This lone wolf, for some reason, would help her survive, at least this time he would.

She didn’t even see the doorway there and she almost cried out when she was pushed into it but she had enough sense not to make a sound. The moment her hand was released she went back to holding the wound that hurt more from being on the arm that she was dragged through the alley by. Then he was on her, well, pressing against her. She was trapped between the door and the wolf and she was still shivering form the cold but at least he was warmer. She buried her face into him as the sounds of the humans got louder. He had been helping her so why was he trapping her? Why was he holding her here while the humans got closer and closer? They would find her and kill her if not him to! Was that it? Was he giving up?

Then she heard them running past. The humans didn’t even stop and from what she could hear they didn’t even look at the two wolves hidden in the doorway. Then she realized what he was doing. He had found a hiding place. They couldn’t out run the humans forever and so this was how to get away. To hide and let the humans run past them and think that they are still chasing them. It was really clever, better then she ever remembered Luke doing. His idea was kill them so they can’t chance anyone ever again. Needless to say he was not a very forgiving alpha. She wondered if she had done something wrong and that was why they left her behind.

As the sounds of the humans faded away the big wolf that had saved her backed away form her and left her standing there in the doorway that had hidden them both form the humans. She flinched when he yelled at her but she didn’t say anything. She didn’t look at him and her ears went down, her hidden tail curling between her legs as she did something that those on the bottom of the pack pecking order become very good at. Submitting. She didn’t argue or put off any vibes of aggression and all of the vibes she was currently putting off were all saying the same thing. I’m sorry. Don’t hurt me.

After a pause, when it became clear to her that he was expecting and answer she spoke but she still didn’t look at him, her eyes remained on the floor, her ears down in fear and submission. As if that wasn’t enough she was shivering from the chill of the rain that soaked right through everything that she had on. “I-I’m sorry.” She began, unsure of what to say and worried about making him madder then he already sounded. He was bigger then her, stronger then her and faster then her and she learned, the hard way, that you don’t do anything to irritate people who are bigger, stronger and faster then you are.

“H-he left me...” she began, biting her lip slightly. “M-My alpha, Luke, he left me here. Whenever we went through any other city h-he kept mine close. H-he told me that it was dangerous so he kept me close so I wouldn’t get lost but.... but not this time...” she told him sadly, “Th-this time... I wake up alone.... underneath the trash...” she said, biting her lip slightly. He through her away, more then that, he threw her away with the garbage. “I-I couldn’t find him, the rain took his scent, I tried calling for him but he didn’t come to get me. I-I couldn’t find him so.... I thought maybe... he forgot me. That once he realized I was gone.... he would come back... So that if he heard me howl.... he would come back for me.... but instead I got shot...” she told him and she motioned to the wound she was holding. He would be able to see the blood on her cheek just fine.

She stood there, looking at the ground and shivering. She was wounded and bleeding and just a thrown away pack pet, and just a pup too. She looked up at the wolf, her big, red eyes full of tears that could not be seen since the doorway managed to block the rain. “H-he..... he isn’t coming back for me.... is he?” she asked the wolf but she already knew the answer. No. He wasn’t coming back. He threw her away with the garbage and he left her in the city to die.

PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptyMon Dec 29, 2008 11:10 pm

Ri could smell the blood before he even saw it. He started to really smell it when he was nearly right up against her earlier, until then it was faint – the rain having washed a bit of the smell away. His eyes focused on her wounds and he moved into a little bit, going into a more relaxed posture. He crossed his arms over his chest and just watched her for a moment, then with a sigh he lifted a hand and ran it through his hair. “Come on, it would be a waste of energy keeping you from being skinned just so you bleed to death.” He turned and started to walk in the alley the way they had come in. His ears stayed perched high, moving to every sound given off.

Ri paused a few strides down, noticing he was probably moving a bit fast in his pace, he was used to not having to worry about someone else following him. He had listened to her words, a ping of pity hit him, he nearly growled at the feeling but held the growl back, he just wasn’t used to it. “No.” He said simply, figuring she would already know the answer to her question without him even answering it. He knew what the alpha was doing with her, she was just a pet to them, it sickened Ri, in his opinion each wolf in the pack should be treated with the position intended and respect for that position. She was supposed to be a pup…not a pet.

Starting to walk again, he made sure to keep his stride slow, “It isn’t far.” He said simply. He was referring to a place he knew that had material to help the wound, clean it a bit more. He thought more about her little story. He shook his head lightly and said, “It was stupid to howl, there are more humans than wolves around here. And actually you are lucky a human got to you before Jet.” When the name came out of Ri’s mouth his tone changed into a hateful, angry one, showing his dislike for the one with that name with a low growl in his throat.

Ri paused at the main street, looking around a bit and taking in the sounds, the rain was still pouring and that made it slightly hard to hear movements from too far away, though he felt somewhat sure that with the previous shootout no one would be around for a while longer. He moved along the wall for a little and then down another alley, “Stay quiet and close.” He said in a hushed voice, his body was tense, he kept pausing at the slightest noise. This was one of favored spots for other wolves to hang out. Ri was hoping there would be none today, at least at that moment. He was also hoping that no other wolves were where he was going. It wasn’t really a secret to the locals, nearly all knew that it was a place to go to get some extra medical help.

Ri paused at a door, his eyes scanning the area, so far all clear. He opened the door and walked into the building, it wasn’t really dark, there were lights on there were just no windows. The door opened into a small entry way that looked like a sort of receptionist area of a business or something…but abandoned of course. There was an open doorway that led into the back where more lights were burning. He walked over and through the doorway, a growl forming in his throat immediately.

“Now, now, Ri, no reason to get so uptight,” chuckled another male voice. “Jet isn’t here. It’s just me now.” The other wolf was smaller than Ri, but still looked to be maybe a few years younger, his gray ears were hidden behind a red ball cap, though his gray tail resting on the counter with him that he was sitting on. “Who’s that?” He motioned towards the girl.

Ri glared at the other and moved towards the other side of the room, grabbing bandages and some things to help prevent infection. They might be wolves, but using what humans had they could make sure they didn’t loose limbs after being shot at sometimes. He didn’t answer the other’s question, actually just kind of ignoring them completely.

He walked over to her and said, “Show me your arm.”

“Come on Ri, don’t be so sour, it’s not my fault that you didn’t have…” Before the other could finish their sentence Ri’s eyes shot over to them, his ears fell backward in anger and a threatening growl came from him. The other jumped lightly and let out a sigh and held up his hands as if in surrender, “Alright, I’ll be quiet, I’m in no position right now, but Jet will be back shortly, he was checking out a few gunshots that he heard.” The other smirked and looked at the girl, “Was that you who howled? Our pack was on the way but…well…we were a bit off and didn’t get there before the guns went off.”

PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptyTue Dec 30, 2008 12:42 am

She saw him looking at her and she squirmed under his gaze. Her fate was in his hands after all. What ever he decided to do with her, well, she wouldn’t really have much of a chance to say no. Then she saw that he was relaxing so she was able to relax too. When she heard him speak she could not help but smile. He was nice, he was going to help her get better and maybe he would even take care of her and teach her all of the stuff that all of he other pup got to learn but Luke didn’t let her. Then he started to walk and she had to walk very fast and almost run just to keep up with him.

After a little bit he stopped and she was able top catch up. She was even able to find her other shoe and, even though she had to stop to put it on, she was happy to be walking with two shoes on now instead of just one. She caught up to him and looked up at him hopefully; she heard his answer and her ears dropped. “I didn’t think so.” She said very sadly. She didn’t think that he was coming back for her and this wolf just confirmed it. She didn’t mind too much, as long as he was there then she didn’t have too much to worry about.

She put her hat back onto her head, hiding her ears sop that she looked like and adorable, human child, since her jacket was longer then her dress to hide her tail. She was happy to hear that it was not very far and now that he had slowed his stride she was able to keep up much easier then when he was walking at his normal pace, which was very fast for her. She listened to what he said and she looked down again, he was saying that it was stupid to howl and though it was something she already knew she just listened to what he had to say and she didn’t dare talk back to him. Luke had done a very good job at teaching her never to talk back to someone in a higher position then she was and the way that he taught her was that, being a pet, everyone was in a higher position then she was.

Then she heard what he said to say next and she looked up at him. She had been taught never to talk back but she debated for a moment if asking the question that she wanted to ask was or could possibly be considered talking back to. When she determined that what she was about to say couldn’t be considered talking back to she asked her question. “Who is Jet?” she asked him. She could tell that he didn’t like the person form the way that he said his name but that didn’t tell her who he was or what he had done or anything about him. Being a pet meant that no one told her anything so she was starving for information and it had been so scarce to her before that she always loved to learn something new.

She followed his movement, when he stayed against the wall so did she, when he stopped so did she and when he moved she moved along with him. She wasn’t about to let herself get separated form a man that was going to help her survive. She was not as stupid as her alpha had previously liked to believe. When he told her to stay close and quiet that was exactly what she did. She could tell that he was tense so she stayed close, worried about what might make him so tense. He was a lone wolf after all. Well, he was alone, now he had her. Ever time he heard a noise he paused and because she was staying so close she would more often then not bump into him because she was following so closely.

He stopped at a door and this time she managed not to bump into him but she looked above the door for some kind of sign or marking to tell her what this place was. He sounded like he was going to help her when he made the comment about saving her form being skinned would be pointless if she bleed to death. She looked at her wound, she knew that it was bleeding a lot but the idea that she would bleed to death worried her.
They walked into the place and it was dim, there were lights but there were no window and she knew that it was good, that way no one can look in and see who was inside. No human could peak in and notice that the place had wolves in it.

The place smelled like wolves and she knew that lots of wolves came and left form here and she realized that it had to be some kind of clinic and this made her tail wag some. He did bring her to get her wounds cleaned up. Then she heard the big wolf growling and she stopped wagging her tail. If he was growling then it wasn’t very good. She stayed so close to him she was practically on his leg. Then she saw a man, he was smaller then the big wolf, he was a wolf too and he laughed so he couldn’t be as uptight as the big wolf was.

Then she heard that name again, this Jet person made the big wolf uneasy. She still didn’t know why but she was able to tell that now was not the best time to ask a question like that and that now was the time to let the big wolves talk. Then he asked about her, not to her but about her to the big wolf and she got a little bit worried, her little hands clung to his pants as she looked up at him for some kind of guidance, she didn’t know what to do and usually when she didn’t know what to do Luke told her. But this man didn’t tell her what to do, in fact he walked away and left her standing there.

He ignored the question and that confused her. She had never seen someone ignore a question. If she ignored one that she would get into a lot of trouble but he didn’t, the other wolf didn’t even seem to mind that he ignored one. Then he walked over to her and she took a step back. She was nervous and she didn’t know what to do and she wondered why no one was telling her. It was all really confusing and the more she thought on it the more that she realized that Luke only told her what to do, he never, well, hardly ever told the others what to do, they just came up with what to do one their own and now that no one was telling her what to do she wondered if she was allowed to do that. She had never been allowed to do anything other then what she had been told before but she decided now that Luke wasn’t here anymore she could try it.

She heard what the man said and she held out her arm, showing it to him only to realize that he couldn’t see it underneath her coat. She wanted to roll up the sleeve but she didn’t know f it would roll up the sleeve but she didn’t know if it would roll up far enough. She resolved to take the jacket off but first she took off the water soaked hat and she stuffed it into one of her pockets. After that she took off the coat, she folded it over her good arm and then she dropped it on the floor. It fell like a wet towel. It was so heavy with water that now that it was gone she felt like she could move again and without the coat on the rest of her body became clear.

Beneath the coat she had pale skin, she wasn’t able to get out as much as she should have, always forced to stay in some room as she waited for her alpha to come back and do something wither. She hadn’t been allowed to even play with the other pups. Her dress had no sleeved but a two inch strap on either side. It’s straps were elastic, easy to take on and off at will and the same thing was said for the rest pf the dress. It framed her chest, small but a good size for a child of her age, the neck was low enough to show off what ever cleavage could come of a thirteen year old There was a small bow in the front of it and it was not even long enough to cover her tail, which could now be seen by both. It didn’t reach past her finger tips if her hands were at her sides. She looked down at herself and blushed gently, the dress was soaked and clinging to her body like a second skin. She pulled on it with her good arm so that it didn’t do so but being a wet at oit was she was not able to make it much better.

She looked up at them and a bright red collar could be seen around her neck, it even had a golden tag on it that read:

Riki
Property of Luke

In very clear bold letters. It was the constant reminder of her status as pack pet. The wolf began to speak to the big wolf about something but he growled and cut him off so the man turned his attention back to her. It was chilly in there and she was soaking wet so she shuttered slightly. She listened to what he said and she nodded. “Y-yes.... I howled... Then someone shot at me. They got my arm and my cheek but I ran away before I could get shot again.” She told him with a small smile as she looked at him. The smile faded s she told him why she howled. “I didn’t mean to cause trouble.... My pack left me. I howled so that they would hear me but... I don’t think that they are coming back for me.” She told him sadly.

She didn’t want to keep thinking about it and if she wasn’t going to get into trouble fro talking then she wanted to talk. “My name is Riki.” She said cheerfully as she pointed to the tag on her neck, “And who are you? Big Wolf didn’t tell me his name... who is Jet?.... Are you going to make my arm better?” she asked him, hoping that she would get to know who they all were and who this Jet person was but more important then that, her arm was still bleeding and he needed to make it better.

PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptyTue Dec 30, 2008 10:13 pm

Ri wasn’t that much of a talker, obviously. Actually he could talk a bit, but that was only if he was comfortable with another, and that hadn’t happened in a long time. He tried to keep himself detached from every other living thing so that he didn’t feel lonely and that he didn’t have to worry about anyone other than his own survival. And now….now he found himself helping a pup…a pup! He could barely believe it. He had come across other lost pups before but he had ignored them, why was he helping her all of a sudden? He groaned inwardly at the thought, it made his head hurt, maybe it was because she was cute, extremely cute.

He didn’t tell her who Jet was, he was on a one track mind at the moment. He was curious as to what she knew and what she would do if he didn’t answer questions completely for her. So he answered some and not others, he would eventually tell her about Jet, but that was before he came across the other in the clinic.

Ri watched as the girl took off her coat and his eyes scanned her body, his breath caught in his throat. She was…..he didn’t really know the word, cute didn’t do justice. He shook his mind of the thoughts that flooded it and knelt down so that he was bending over. His touch was soft and gentle when he took her arm in his hands, first he started to clean the wound with the liquid using a cloth. “Might sting a little,” he said, his tone gentle and in a near whisper. The first kindness he had shown towards anyone in, as stated previously, a long time.

The other wolf that was sitting on the counter, Ken, watched the girl, he also thought she was cute. An malicious grin crossed his lips as he moved off the counter and stretched his arms above his head, tail behind him. “That’s a sad story.” He said, sadness in his tone even though he was faking it he was pretty good. He couldn’t help but laugh when she referred to Ri as big wolf. “Riki, that’s a cute name. I’m
Ken.” He paused and took a step closer, his gaze going to Ri, who glared at him out of the corner of his eyes as he started to put special pads on the wound, it would help it seal and stop the bleeding. After the pads Ri wrapped it up in special wrap. He then turned his attention over to her cheek; Ri lifted a hand and gently cupped her chin, moving the cloth that had the disinfectant on it to her check, brushing the wound gently. Then grabbing a bandage and placing it over it. His eyes focused on the collar, he read it and had the urge to take it off her and throw it in a lake or something, he didn’t want her to be anyone’s, he wanted her to….shaking his thoughts again, what was he thinking?! He was a lone wolf, alone, solitary, why was he suddenly wanting company from her?! Why was she tugging at spots inside him that he had been successful so far at blocking off, making sure not even….Gah! What was it with this girl?! She got him thinking about things, about memories he didn’t want to visit.

“And the big wolf you keep referring to is Ri,” Ken said, giving Ri’s name. Ri didn’t seem to care really, he just picked up some left over items and stood up taking them where he found them.

“Jet is the alpha of the pack I’m in,” with Ri away he moved and knelt down in front of her, giving a welcoming smile. “He is one of the top alpha’s in the city. You see, there are three main packs, and two small ones. Jet is the alpha of the top main one.”

“So you guys think,” Ri huffed, he had crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the counter, his tail switching back and forth behind him, his ears still twitching. “He’s a brute dog that deserves to be chained up in a yard of a human.”

This statement from Ri got Ken on his feet, facing Ri, growling, ears folded back angrily, “You’re just mad because we won’t take you into the pack!”

“I would rather be a pet than join the disgrace you guys call a pack!” Ri retorted, his tone surprisingly calm and collected, just a sharp edge to his words.

Ken growled and then shook his head, he couldn’t fight right now. Him and Ri had fought before, he had lost to Ri, and without Jet or any of the other pack around he didn’t want to chance another fight and get killed. He shook his head again and looked over at the girl, “And you are tolerating being around him?” He shook his head and grinned, his hand moved and took a hold of her tag, reading it. “Luke the name of your old alpha?” He grinned at her and shot to his feet, eyes widening when he heard something in the front of the building.

Ri also heard it, his body tensed and his eyes narrowed, his tail stopped moving. It wasn’t long after that that they heard laughing in the front of the clinic, heading towards where they were. It sounded like a group of four. It wasn’t long before they entered the room, the one in the middle stopping in the doorway and his eyes shooting straight to Ri, then to the girl, then back to Ri. The others moved and spread across the wall, Ken paused, then said, “Riki, she’s the pup that got shot at earlier. She was ditched by her old alpha.” He explained to the one that was in the doorway, Ken avoided eye contact with the man. Whereas Ri dared it, he stared straight at the other.

The guy that was standing in the doorway was Jet. “What’s he doing here?” He asked Ken, eyes still on Ri.

“I’m not here to pick a fight, Jet,” Ri said, his tone gave him away for trying to restrain his anger. He was actually just afraid that if they started to fight they might accidently hurt Riki, which he didn’t want to do. Damn feelings! he cursed himself.

Jet paused and then looked at Riki, “Hey there,” he said with sudden sweetness. “Aren’t you a cutie.” He paused and grinned. He could tell that Ri was the one that brought her here, and he knew that Ri was probably the one that had fixed up her wounds a bit, and to him that meant a chance to make Ri’s life miserable. Jet’s eyes moved to her collar, he moved closer to her and then knelt down and took the tag in his fingers, “Luke, huh? The alpha that ditched you.” He paused and smiled softly at her.

Seeing Jet being close to Riki Ri wanted to jump on him and rip his throat open. He knew what Jet was doing. He wasn’t an idiot. Ri moved up behind the girl, since because of Jet’s moves her back was to him.
Jet looked at Ri, then back at Riki, “What do you say ditching this loser and coming with us? Being part of our pack.” He watched her, a smile on his face.

A low growl unwillingly formed in Ri’s throat, when he growled the other members of Jet’s pack moved to stand straight, getting ready if needed to attack if Ri tried something.

“Let her answer,” Jet growled at Ri, as if reading his mind on wanting to tell Jet that she was interested or something.

Jet’s pack was one of the ones that would make a pup like her wish she was caught by humans. Their pack was bigger, Ri figured the rest of the pack was keeping a lookout to make sure no humans were coming nearby.

Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptyTue Dec 30, 2008 11:36 pm

He was being very gentle with her, he was careful not to hurt her when he touched her and even though she flinched slightly when she was touched she was assured that he wasn’t going to hurt her. She watched him with her arm and she was happy to be warned of the upcoming pain. He was being really nice to her but she still whimpered slightly when the substance hit her arm. Yes it did hurt but she wasn’t going to try and run from the pain, that, sadly, was another lesson that she learned when she was Luke’s pet. But he was being really nice to her so she didn’t mind it too much.

She watched Ri wrap up her arm then a small bit of blush came to her cheeks as he took a hold of her chin. She knew he was just looking at the small cut on her cheek but still.... She closed the eye on the side that the wound was on when he began to brush her cheek with the cloth, opening it when he pulled the cloth off only to close it again when he put it back. Then he put and bandage on it to keep it from getting infected and she put her hand on the bandage and she smiled. “Thank you Ri.” She said with that happy smile. She tried to think, she couldn’t remember when she was last really happy. Maybe it was better that Luke had left her, she had survived it after all.

She looked up at Ken when he spoke. She already knew that it was a sad story and she didn’t even tell him that her last alpha left her under the garbage like she was some kind of common trash. It made her very sad to... and she looked very cute when she was sad. She saw him approaching her and she looked at Ri who was still holding her arm and then back at the man.

“Ri?” she questioned, trying out the name of the man that had saved her from the humans and now saved her from bleeding to death. He was a very nice wolf. She listened to what he said about Jet and she smiled slightly when he knelt in front of her, now she didn’t have to tilt her head back to look up at him and see him. Then she heard Ri’s comment and she looked back at the big wolf, she wondered why he didn’t like him so much. Jet sounded strong, really strong and she remembered something that Luke told her once. It’s important that I be strong because when I am strong my pack is feared so it keeps us safe. But still, something about it she didn’t like. The way he said it, he sounded cocky, like hew as using g that as an excuse to bully everyone beneath him and she had a feeling that it was exactly what it was, and excuse.

She watched the man get to his feet and she backed up a little bit, it looked like they were going to fight and she really didn’t want to see them fight. Then she heard what he said about rather being a pet then joining Jet’s pack and her ears shot up and she looked at him. “What’s wrong with being a pet?” She asked him. She was a pet and what he said made it wound like there was something really wrong with what she was and she really didn’t like that.

They were growling at each other and when Ken said what he said to her she was confused. She didn’t know what was wrong with Ri, he was nice and kind and he saved her and he walked slowly so she could keep up with him. What was wrong with Ri? Then he approached her and she didn’t have a chance to back away. Her ears when down and she closed her eyes only to find that he had been reaching for her collar. It was odd, her reaction was that like she had been expecting him to come up and hurt her. He was holding her tag and she nodded at what he said. “Y-ya.... Luke was the alpha... he always kept me close but now.... I don’t know....” she said, admitting she was a little bit lost without her alpha to guide her.

Then she heard something and all three of them got tense. She would have moved towards Ri but currently Ken was holding her tag so she couldn’t. She heard the men, four of them, she could smell their scents and then they came into sight. She watched as they spread across the walls and she saw the one man who, from the way that Rio was looking at him, Riki could guess was the Jet that he so hated.

Then Ken introduced her and she wanted to shrink back and hide. She didn’t like this; her eyes darted around to all of the wolves in the room. Jet and Ri really didn’t get along. She didn’t want them to fight any more the Ri wanted them to fight so she was happy that they were leaving each other alone for now. Then Jet turned his attention towards her and she stiffened. She pulled herself back just enough to get her tag out of Ken’s hand and then she stood there not daring to make another move.

Jet was suddenly being nice to her. Mean to Ri then nice to Riki? She didn’t exactly understand why but she didn’t even make a move as he approached her. She didn’t trust this Jet person. Ri didn’t like him... but Ken did.... she didn’t know... she was sure that all of the other wolves that came in with him liked him so she wondered what she should think, Jet also asked about Luke. “He kept me close... always.... and today he left me alone in the city.... Ri saved me.” She told Jet, hoping that it might help the two of them get along better. Jet seemed to act nice to her so maybe if he knew that Ri was nice to her then he would be nice to Ri?

Rio came closer to her and that relaxed her some but she didn’t turn form Jet. He spoke about leaving Ri and her joining his pack. She remembered what her alpha had said before and what Ken had said about Jet and then about what Ri had said. Jet had called Ri a loser. That wasn’t very nice. Why didn’t he like Ri? Ri growled at him but Jet growled back. He wanted her to answer and she realized something. She never had the chance to choose anything in her entire life. Nothing at all and now she had to pick something that would decide the course of the rest of her life! It was a big choice, especially for a pup pet who had just been abandoned by her last alpha.

She thought for a few seconds then she took a step back this way her back was pressed against Ri. “Ri is not a loser.” She said, it was the first thing that she said and it made her choice very clear. “Ri is nice and he is good and he saved me form the humans and he patched me up to make me all better!” she said, then she looked at Ken and smiled. “I hope we can still be friends but,” and she looked back at Jet, “I want to stay with Ri.” She told Jet as she wrapped her arms around the big wolf. She didn’t trust Jet, something about him worried her and she knew that she could trust Ri, he had already proven that he would make sure that she was safe and that he would take care of her so she wanted to stay with him.

Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptyWed Dec 31, 2008 12:32 am

When Riki had thanked him Ri gave a small nod showing that he heard her and that was his way of pretty much saying ‘you’re welcome’ without using words. He liked the way that she said his name, he couldn’t lie he just wanted keep her close and make sure that nothing would hurt her. Unfortunately Jet was making that very hard to do. Ri was fighting every impulse to attack the guy, and now he was asking her to join his pack? Ri wouldn’t say anything, he knew if he did he would have at least four other wolves, maybe also Ken, on top of him trying to kill him.

He sighted mentally, he probably shouldn’t have used the word pet, he was referring to a humans pet, but he also saw a pack pet as a little degrading but that was probably also because that was how he was raised. He was taught to be independent but dependent on the pack when he was a pup. He would explain how he meant pet to her later, if she asked about it again, if she forgot about it that was fine by him.

Jet watched the girl, he felt sure that she would go with him. He figured that since she was in a pack before she wouldn’t want to be around a lone wolf or anything, she would want to be in a pack again, where she would be surrounded. He was shocked to hear her choice on to stay with Ri. Jet narrowed his eyes and his pleasantness disappeared out of his features. The kindness in his eyes changed to anger, a low growl developing in his throat, “It’s not a wise choice to deny a pack that has high standing in the city.” He warned.

Ri’s arm went around the girl that clung to him, in a protective grasp, the warmth from his body going to her soaked one, even though he was also wet he didn’t seem to mind, he was way to used to getting caught out in the rain that it didn’t bother him anymore. He grinned when she back talked Jet, saying how himself wasn’t a loser.

When she offered to still be friends with Ken, sadness kind of flashed through his eyes before he looked back at Jet and backed away, he felt sorry for the girl, everyone in the pack viewed what happened to anyone that denied being in the pack when offered. Every other wolf along the walls tensed, some had grins on their face, hoping for a fight.

Jet stood up and glared at Ri, “Give her to me, Ri. Make it easier on yourself.” He demanded.

Ri huffed and couldn’t help but chuckle, “No. Riki stays by me until either she decides to leave, or I die.” Ri moved and put his body between Jet and Riki, “Now move aside, you know as well as I do that if we fight in here then no one can use it because no one will clean it. And it’s every wolf’s source of medicine in the city.” He moved his hand and placed it on Riki’s shoulder in a protective gesture.

Jet growled, he knew that Ri was right, he paused and then moved to the side, opening the doorway for them to pass. Ri moved, when near Jet Ri moved so that he was behind Riki, making sure his body was blocking hers from Jet, he knew that Jet wouldn’t hesitate in the option to grab her.

Outside the rain had subsided a little, it was still raining though – more of a light rain instead of a downpour. Ri could feel them following, a low growl developing in his throat, “I was hoping they would leave until at least tomorrow.” He looked at her and sighed. “Go away pests!” He growled over his shoulder.

“We’re not in the clinic anymore, now give me her,” Jet growled, but Ri ignored him and kept walking. This only made Jet even angrier, though Jet didn’t charge yet, he kept a few yards behind them.

Ri figured Riki didn’t like fighting, he would try and not fight, though he wasn’t sure how long that might hold out. He looked down at her; her clothes were completely soaked through. He debated on some options he had, he let out a sigh and turned down another alley, stopping at a stair area and picked Riki up, placing her on the first level landing and said, “There are clothes inside, window is open, they may be a little big, but they used to be someone I know that was a little older than you, a little bigger. The door on the right is the closet that holds the clothes.”

He turned and glared at Jet, who was a few yards away, just watching, “How cute, you’re actually caring after something, how long has it been? Two, five years?” Jet was trying to mock Ri, he knew it. He knew there was also a jacket that would be better fitted for the rain that she could wear, before he went to where he wanted to rest, he had to ditch Jet and the others, he was debating on a way to do it, which way he wanted and which one would be easier. He knew that Jet wouldn’t move unless Riki was in view, it was just the way Jet was.

Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptyWed Dec 31, 2008 1:46 am

Riki watched him and she didn’t like what she saw. All of the kindness drained from his face and it changed from being nice to being mean and anger seemed to fill him form her refusal. He began to growl at her as he spoke and she knew right then that he was going to do everything he could to make her very sorry for the choice that she had picked. Luke hadn’t taught her much but from him she was able to learn when someone as mad at you and when they were planning to do everything that they could to make your life miserable or make you regret what you did. This was one of the things that just enforced her belief that Ri was the better choice of the two.

Then she felt Ri’s arm around her and she felt a little bit better. He held her protectively and something that she already knew was being reinforced. She knew that Ri would protect her no matter what and right now, by holding her close like this, he was proving it. Still, the whole room as tense and everyone seemed like they were ready to pounce and she was wondering if it was really okay for her to have picked Ri. She wanted to stay with him but it seemed that by picking him over Jet she brought him a lot of trouble. They were even smiling, like they wanted to fight though she couldn’t understand why.

Her eyes widened when she heard what Jet said. He asked her and she said no. Why couldn’t he just leave it at that? If he took Ri then she would agree but she wouldn’t leave him out alone. He had saved her life and bandaged her wounds and made her all better so of course she was going to choose to stay with him. Yes, she was use to a pack and she didn’t know how things were going to be without some kind of established order but she was sure that with Ri there everything was going to be okay.

Then Ri laughed and she looked up at him, what was so funny? How was anything about this whole mess of a situation even the slightest bit funny? She didn’t get it at all and all she wanted to do was go some place safe where they could be safe and where Jet wouldn’t be. She heard what he said and she smiled just a little bit, he was going to make sure that she was okay and she was very happy when he got between her and Jet. She touched the hand that he put onto her shoulder, feeling a lot safer with her there. She bent down to pick up her jacket and held it over her arm this way she could keep it with her that the alpha of that pack that wanted her couldn’t take it.

Ri was smart too, he pointed out that they couldn’t fight there and that made her very happy since she didn’t want to see them fighting there or anywhere. Still, she had no idea that one small building could be so important top so many people. Jet didn’t seem to happy about it but at least he moved to the side and he let them pass. She was worried about being behind Ri with Jet behind both of them but she was happy when Ri made sure to keep his body between Jet and herself. She didn’t want to be close to the man.

It was still raining when they got outside and she didn’t like that. She just put on bandages and if they got wet then they might need to be changed soon so she rung out her hat and put it over her ears before doing the same with her jacket and trying to use it to keep the bandages dry. Ri started to growl and she wondered if she had done the right thing by trying to keep her bandages dry but instead he said something about not waiting until tomorrow and then she realized that they were being followed. He yelled at them over his shoulder and she clung to his hand, she didn’t want t get taken away form him. She had a feeling that if Jet did take her away then she would not be going to a very good place.

Jet was back and he pointed out that they weren’t in the clinic anymore and he still wanted her. The clinic was the reason for not fighting before so now that they were out of it she hoped that Ri would be able to come up with another reason why they should not fight other then that fighting is bad because she had a feeling that reason would not work. She looked up at Ri, “I don’t want to go with him.” She told Ri, sounding a bit sad and very scared. “Don’t let him take me.” She pleaded, hoping that he would be able to keep her form Jet without getting hurt to badly.

She walked with him, looking up at him and doing her very best not to look back. She walked with him down an alley and down another one and she was a bit surprised when he picked her up but she didn’t make a sound, she just looked down at him confused. She was put on a landing above the ground so she was forced to look down at him she listened to what he had to say and she nodded then she looked over and saw Jet watching her. She felt his eyes on her and she shivered. She didn’t like the way that he was looking at her. “Be careful.” She told Ri, not wanting him to get hurt because of her.

She climbed into the window and she looked around. She was really cold and she had to hang up the jacket first. She found a bathroom and she hung up her jacket and towel, along with her dress and her panties which were also soaked. She dried herself off with a towel before she went over to a closet where she found the clothing that he was talking about. She found a shirt, it was a black shirt that would look very good on her and even a jacket that looked like it would fare well against the rain She even found some undergarments that she was able to put on and as she looked through the closet she found a pair of jeans and she looked at them for a moment. She had never been allowed to wear pants before, only dresses for easy access.

She frowned at the memory of him telling her that and decided that she would wear the pants. She rolled down her soaked socks and hung them up along with her soaked shoes and now that everything f hers was hanging up to dry she got changed into the pants and she even found a pair of sneakers that were her size and they didn’t even look too used. Once everything was on and she was all ready she shook her head one last time, sending droplets of water flying in her attempt to dry her hair. Of course it didn’t work but hopefully it would not be so soaking wet now and now that she was all dressed she went to the window to check on Ri.

She peaked out the window, doing her best not to be seen but when she found that she couldn’t se much she went out onto the landing to watch. She had been right about the jacket and she would have stayed inside and stayed hidden but she had to make sure that Ri was going to be okay, after all, he had done so much for her she hated that he might get hurt over trying to keep her safe.

PostSubject: Re: Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless)   Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) EmptyWed Dec 31, 2008 2:37 am

Ri looked at the girl and said, “I won’t let them have you.” He said lightly. He didn’t want to think about what might happen if something happened and he couldn’t hold onto her. There was one thing he was sure on, he would not die at the hands of them, he was sure of that.

Ri shifted on his feet, there wouldn’t really be anything he could do other than fight he didn’t think. He doubted that if they ran they could outrun them, plus he wasn’t sure where they would go. It would be harder to trick them like he tricked the humans, wolf senses were stronger so they would know when the trail ended and such, especially with the rain letting up.

Almost as if on queue a streak of lightening flashed through the sky and thunder sounded like a drum being banged on in the heavens. Ri looked over and saw Riki on the landing, he figured he didn’t have to tell her not to leave the landing. His eyes went back to Jet and the others, scanning them for a moment before letting out a sigh and raised a hand and ran it through his hair, no other choice.

The alley wasn’t tight, it was a large one, being able to hold around eight full grown men standing side-by-side but still have room to shift a bit. RI moved to towards the center of the space between alley walls, Jet moved forward and asked, “Are we going to do this the hard way, or easy way?”

Ri looked between them, all in all, including Jet and Ken, there were six. Ri thought about it for a moment, he couldn’t help but wonder if it would be a fair one-on-one or not. Letting out a sigh, he knew the answer, it wouldn’t be a fair fight, he was pretty sure about that, when Jet wanted something he never did it the fair way. But, why not just ask. “Are we going to do it fair?” His skepticism showed in his voice.

Jet let out a light chuckle and asked, “Don’t I always?” That statement answered Ri’s question, it wasn’t going to be fair. Jet never played fair so to speak. Ri shifted on his feet, his ears staying high and his tail starting to swish behind him a little bit. Ri didn’t like fighting when it wasn’t a decent fight, and a decent fight meant that each person at least held a chance. He wouldn’t bother though, he would just fight, his motivation was standing on the landing, and maybe Jet would really go with his word and fight fair…hell who was Ri trying to kid? He wouldn’t.

Jet made the first move, he shot towards Ri, throwing a punch towards him. Ri dodged it – Jet nearly always started with a punch. He moved and sent a kick towards Jet’s side, making contact and sending the other stumbling a little, but it wasn’t long until they got back onto balance.

The two exchanged hits and misses and Ri was starting to get win the fight when one of the wolves from Jet’s pack shot and went after Ri, then another, and then another. Ken held back, not engaging in the fighting. With four against one Ri was struggling a bit. Letting out a growl Ri went towards Jet, only to be sent stumbling from a hit to the gut by a steel pipe one of the wolves found. Combined with that hit and then the three members going after Ri all at once, Ri was sent against a wall.

There was a lot of blood around the alley, a bit from each person involved in the fight. Ri was knocked off his feet, and he struggled to his feet and used the wall as support. By this time Jet was getting frustrated, “Why won’t you fucking die?!” He growled, pulling something from his pants rim that was hidden by the jacket he was wearing, a gun, and pointed at RI.

Lost Puppy...sort of (Cheshire & Dreamless) Empty

Riki shuttered when the lightning flashed overhead but it did give her a chance to look at what was going on down there. She saw faces that she recognized form the clinic but the only names that she knew were Ri, Ken and Jet. She remembered him telling her that he wouldn’t let them have her but it was six on one so she didn’t know if he would have much of a choice in the matter. A fight like this was in no way fair and she didn’t like it at all. She just wanted to go inside and curl up with Ri to keep her warm. If only all of this could just go away and they could just be happy. But sadly the world didn’t look like that.

She watched them all from above and she heard what Jet said. It would be easy if you just left us alone. I said no! Why can’t you just leave it at that? she wanted to yell at him but she held her tongue, that would make things worse and so she didn’t. If things got too bad then they might kill Ri and she would do anything to keep that from happening.

Ri asked about a fair fight and from the reaction she knew that it would not be fair. She didn’t like that. Fights should be fair, her fate was going to be decided in a fixed fight, it wasn’t right and it wasn’t fair and she was really beginning to wonder if it would have been better to simply pick him in the clinic. If she knew that he was going to do this to her friend Ri then she would have simply agreed and made things easier.

Then the fight began and it looked like Ri had the upper hand. The fight was going well and then another wolf joined in, and another and soon it seemed that all but Ken had joined in on the fight. She could only watch worriedly as he fought for her right to stay with him. It didn’t make sense. Why couldn’t he just leave her alone? Why did he have to comer after her like this and be so mean to Ri? She didn’t like it, she didn’t like it one bit.

Then she looked at Ken who was just standing there. He was just watching all of this happen and she couldn’t believe it. How could he do this? Why wasn’t he helping? She thought that they could be friends but he was just watching other members of his pack beat up the wolf that had saved her life.

Then she realized something. Ken was not high up enough to even open his mouth. She remembered how things were. There was an omega in her pack that didn’t like the way that she was treated. He hated it and he did his best to make her life better, he even taught her a few things and sometimes he even played with her like the other pups played with each other. It was the most fun that she could remember happening to her but then one day Luke found out. He was not happy that the omega had been so nice to her. She never saw him again and Luke told her he left for another pack but now she knew the truth. He killed the omega for his defiance....

She looked down and saw the pipe and she winced when it his Ri, she watched him and worried. She hated this; she really, really hated this. Why did people have to get hurt because of her? That was when she saw it. Ri was against the wall and Jet pulled a gun. Her eyes widened and she knew that she had to do something but she didn’t know what. So she let her instincts take over.

She jumped down from the landing and she ran as fast as she could to the spot were they were, she slapped away the gun and she stood in front of Ri, making herself a human shield. “Stop this!” she pleaded with the wolf, tears in her eyes. “Please... please don’t fight, no more fighting....” she pleaded, “Don’t hurt Ri.... I-I’ll go with you.” She told him, she looked back at Ri sadly before looking at Jet and the others. “I’ll go with you, I’ll be a part of your pack just please.... please don’t shot him. Don’t kill Ri. Please?” she pleaded with the wolf.

She looked up at him, tears in her red eyes and the spilled over down her cheeks. In all honesty she didn’t want to go. She wanted to run and hide under a rock, or even some garbage, anything as long as she was not here. Maybe then Ri wouldn’t be hurt or have a gun pointed at him. All of this was her fault and she just wanted it to be over. No matter what they did to her, even if she was made Jet’s pet then at least Ri would be okay. He saved her life, now it was time to trade hers in to save his.

Ri’s eyes narrowed when he sensed the gun, he couldn’t really see, his vision was blurry and unfocused. He still growled lightly, he wasn’t planning on giving up, even if he got shot. Which he was thinking was probably not the best idea, if he was killed then he had no real hope on trying to get her back or anything if she got taken by them.

Then Riki was in front of him, he had to admit, he was surprised that she was being so bold and trying to prevent him from being killed. He groaned lightly, showing his disapproval and trying to say that she should just run, but his breath was caught in his throat, his breathing was heavy and rigid. He had to use the wall as support or he was afraid he would pass out from dizziness.

Jet smirked at her, he couldn’t help but feel self satisfied that she was giving in to him. “You’re smarter than you first seem, little pup.” He moved his gun and put it back where he had pulled it out and looked over to Ken, “Ken! Get over here!” He ordered.

Ken groaned lightly, his ears were slightly down but not all the way, his tail didn’t even twitch as he walked over and stood to the side of Jet, glancing down at Riki, an apologetic look on his face. He didn’t like this, he knew Jet wouldn’t kill her, but what he would or could do might make her wish she was dead. He felt compassion towards the little one, she was adorable and he reminded her of a little sister or something. “Yes, sir.” He said in a hushed tone, keeping his eyes down to make sure he didn’t look Jet in the eyes, a simple and common sign of submission of a lower rank wolf to an alpha.

“Take my new little toy and start back towards house,” Jet said dismissingly, as he spoke he motioned to another member and said, “Go with them and make sure no one touches her.” He smirked, he wasn’t doing it out of kindness, he was didn’t want anyone to touch her because he wanted to have the first piece. The other wolf nodded and started to walk before Ken.

Ken reached out and placed a hand on Riki’s shoulder and started to lead her away from Ri and the others. He didn’t say anything, he didn’t know what to say. He wanted to tell her it would be alright, but he wouldn’t. And Ken was afraid that Jet wouldn’t abide by what she was saying about not killing Ri, he was afraid that Jet would just kill Ri after they left.

Jet watched as they moved away and then, when they were gone, glared back at Ri, he motioned to another member of his pack and Ri’s world went dark.

The three were out of view of them within moments and the other wolf led the way. Ken shook his head lightly and let out a soft sigh, “I’m sorry about this all.” He said lightly, “Being in Jet’s pack I am forced to dislike Ri, but he shouldn’t be taking out his frustration on you.” He shook his head lightly, he had no choice but to go along with it though. Ken knew that he would be either left for humans to kill or be killed by Jet if he were to say something or try and protect her.

It wasn’t long until they made a series of quick turns then came across a building that was kind of hidden from access unless one knew where they were going. Many wolves that had their ears and tails hidden sat around in front of the building, they were watching out, making sure nothing was happening, no humans were around. Every one of them looked over when they heard them coming. Then they looked towards the door as it opened and a wolf came out.

“What the hell is this?! Where’s Jet?” Growled the male at Ken and the other wolf, who went to join the group that was sitting around, leaving Ken getting the brunt of the anger of the wolf.

“Jet’s prize,” Ken said simply, his body showing submission to the other. “Jet said to not let anyone touch her, Brent.”

Brent had his brown ears back in an angry kind of way, his brown tail straight and tense, as if he was ready to rip out Ken’s throat. His eyes went to Riki and then back at Ken, easing up a bit, his ears went high on top his head, “You know where to put her then.”

Brent was the beta of the pack, his stance and how everyone respected him showed that. When he stepped aside Ken hurried past him, keeping a hold of Riki. Upon entering the house there was a hustle and bustle, members of the pack were wide range of ages, though there were none as young as Riki, a few that were maybe a year older, but none as young as her. Ken moved throughout the area and towards a door, he opened it up and it opened into a room that was small and didn’t really hold anything other than a few blankets on the floor in a corner, no room, and a dim light on the ceiling.
