The longer that the kiss continued between Sophia and Nathan, the more that he seemed to enjoy it. The sweet, wine like taste of her lips on his own, the feel of her hands pressing into his body or scratching behind an ear of his... All it did was get him to relax to a point where he nearly melted in her hands, purring loudly into her lips. His hands then slid up, one resting within the pit of her stomach, rubbing lightly while the other traveled up to rest behind her neck. Both hands, once they were in their respective positions would then begin to caress ever so slowly but lovingly. At one point during the tender moment, he knew that eventually, the two wold have to drop this little game of theirs so they could get back to work on the research of the wand the two found some time ago, but there wasn't a doubt within the male neko's mind that he would pick this up again with her later. Not for nothing, but these two seemed to have been enjoying the other's company and in more ways than one.

After enjoying the sweetness of the moment, the tenderness of his touch and his lips against hers, the sound of his breathing mingled with hers, Sophia slowly, reluctantly ended the kiss. As much as she did want him and as much as she would have loved to continue their little tryst, they had more important things to worry about--like finding out what the staff did. Staring into those wonderful eyes of his she smiled and scratched his ear again. "Well, Nathan, I think we ought to get back to work."

Well, Nathan was right about one thing when he felt Sophia pull away from his lips, thereby ending the moment between them. A slight hint of disappointment came through him when she mentioned that the two would eventually have to get back to work. Shrugging his shoulders but nodding his head afterward, Nathan gave his answer. "Yeah, I suppose you're right. After all, we can have some more fun time later." He said as he reached up to the back of her head and gently itched behind one of those ears of hers with a smile. "Besides, if we kept this up for much more, I don't think we'd be getting out of here until late at night when everyone's gone on to sleep." He added, chuckling playfully.

Sophia smiled at him and kissed his lips softly. "I'll look forward to it," she said, purring softly as he scratched her ear, the pointy extremity twitching. "Anyway, let's see if we can't find what this staff is supposed to do, shall we?" She helped him to sit up and hugged him as she moved into his lap, wondering if the two of them could work this way.

"You keep up with your sexiness and you'll be seeing it a lot sooner than you anticipated." Nathan answered with a smirk and a wink, chuckling afterwards. Following this, he then leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Sophia's lips, this one a little deeper than the ones he had been using on her previously then took his lips back to gaze at her with a smile. "But yes. Let's have ourselves a look at the wand and see what we can make out of it, eh?" He said, sliding a hand down to her rear and giving it a light pat.

Sophia was sure that she'd be distracted if he kept things up, but she didn't mind so much as he kissed her softly and then dazzled her with that smile of his. She got right back into work mode, sincerely cheered, even as he gave her a little pat. Pretending to ignore it she took the stave from the place it was being stored and uncovered it. "Let's see...I'll look into the meaning of the elements and you can see if the designs on the staff mean anything."

"Right on it, chief." Nathan replied as he gave her a mock salute, laughing softly afterwards with a warm and a loving smile before grabbing a book of his own and pulling it in between them, flipping through the pages on occasion. However, there were times when he felt himself being distracted due to the fact that he couldn't help but feel his tail brushing up against her backside a few times before looking up at her with a seemingly innocent smile on his face.

Sophia smiled as she felt him brush against her and smiled back when he looked up at her. "Can I help you, Nathan?" she asked, not willing to admit that she'd re-read the same sentence at least six times in the process of trying to ignore him. Her tail swished and her ears twitched as she watched him. "I did find something interesting. It says the elements have to overlap, and I found something about men and women, but it was really a vague mentioning...Where was it...?"

After a few more innocent brushes of his tail, Nathan would eventually curl around her own when she stated that she found something interesting about the wand. Narrowing his eyes a bit and his expression becoming curious, Nathan would then alter his seating position around so that he could also get a look at the book as well.

"Something about men and women? That's weird." He stated with an arched eyebrow. "What does it say about it?" He asked, looking at the page she was pointing at.

"Well, it's pretty vague," she said, looking at the print. "But it says, 'the presence of man and woman in one' when it talks about the ritual to release it's power." She frowned, unsure of what that meant. "Here, why don't you take a look?" Sophia turned and handed it to him, her tail swishing in frustration.

"The presence of man and woman in one?" Nathan repeated with a look of confusion on his face before being offered the book. Once he held it in his hands, his eyes veered down to that particular verse and narrowed his eyes at it. "Presence of man and woman as one..." He then repeated again, lifting his head up from the page then looked skyward. "What does that mean...?" He muttered to himself before shaking his head then looked back down at the page again.

"It might have something to do with what a man feels in his heart towards that woman or something, I'm not too positive." Nathan spoke up again before looking up at Sophia.

Sophia frowned and took the book back, marking that particular page with a sticky tab and looked at it again. "I don't know...seems awfully vague for a ritual that seems so specific. Maybe..." she seemed to struggle with her words. "Maybe it means sex?" She tilted her head to the side and read over the whole verse again, and it seemed to make sense. "I don't know," she said, leaning back against him. "I still think we should find someone well-versed in the old ways..."

"That would be far too easy if it was just sex." Nathan answered with a shake of his head and a slight frown as he curled his hands around her waist in thought. "But you may be right. We'll have to defer to the locals and see what they know about this thing." He added, pointing outside of the tent.

With a bit of a thoughtful sigh and a shake of his head, Nathan spoke again. "When do you wanna check this out with the locals, eh? Later this evening before the sun completely sets?" He asked, looking at her with the same thoughtful look.

Sophia frowned and looked over the pages, not coming up with anything better or very different. With a sigh, she marked the pages and set the book down. "I don't know... do you think it will be safe to go out so late? Or that we'll find someone?" She wasn't sure of what to do, and she was hoping for his input as well. Sex did seem entirely too simple, but it made more sense than what he had suggested. She looked up at him and shrugged. "That's up to you--you're going to be driving," she said with a chuckle. The feline didn't mind driving, but driving in the desert was not her favorite past-time.

She kissed his neck just a little and then when back to leaning on him, feeling tired. "You know, I think I got a little too much sun today. It might be time for me to get some sleep," she said with a yawn.

Nathan nodded in agreement as he watched Sophia settle back into his body, claiming she was getting a little sleepy. "I can't say I blame ya, Soph. This has been a bit of a long day, hasn't it?" He asked as his hands and tail curled around her body gently. "If you want, we can just take of this in the morning?" He asked, looking at the female neko with a smile on his face.
