Jeffrey had been a rather busy teenager as of recently. Between keeping up with the bills at his job working at a grocery store and being a Senior in high school with plans on going to college afterwards, it can be tough on a kid. It left him the kind of person that has gone without going on dates, hanging out with friends, or even going out in general. It wasn't so much that he was a loner, he just rarely had the time to do much. That, personally, was something he could easily blame on his father for leaving her high and dry like he did. And for what, he wondered. All for a piece of ass?

However, he was too tired to even think straight as he came home one afternoon after a hard day at the checkout aisle.

"Mom, I'm home." Jeffrey announced as he walked inside, taking his shoes off at the door. Once he stepped inside, his first destination was heading for the couch to veg out for a while. "And yes, I got some stuff for us to eat tonight." He added as he went into the kitchen and placed about three grocery bags up on the counter.

Abby smiled as she looks at him as he went into the kitchen. "Oh wonderful, just pet everything away, Darling." She says to him softly. "I'm just making some potato soup for dinner." She says to him softly. "Its something new to try out." She explains to him softly.

"Sure thing." Jeffrey answered with a nod and a smile as he began to put the groceries away in their proper places. "Anyways, how was everything while I was out?" He asked after he put a can of tomato sauce away. "Anybody like us?" He asked jokingly, laughing a little.

She let out a laugh at her son's joke. "No, but I did get promoted into be head chef." She says to him and smiles as she turns her body around so she could see what his reaction was at her good news. "Finally got that damn promotion we been wanting huh?" She says to him softly.

Jeffrey's eyes widened a little as he heard this. "Head chef?!" He asked, smiling at her. "That's great!" He added, smiling broadly as he spoke before turning his body around and embracing his mother tightly.

After pulling back from her, Jeffrey's grin didn't seem to fade as he looked at her. "This still means that I gotta keep up with you, y'know!" He added, laughing a little more.

She smiles as she embraced her son and hugged him back. She smiles at his words. "Oh no, you dont have to keep up with me, Darling. I'm suppose to keep everything in order." She says to him softly.

"Aw, come on, ma!" Jeffrey answered with narrowed eyes and frowning at her. "You said it yourself that I need to help you out anyway I can!" He added, turning back to return to the chore of putting the groceries away. "And besides, my boss says I've been doing pretty good with my work. He said if I keep it up, he might move me to Customer Care." He added with a smile.

"But, I suppose a celebration of sorts in order, wouldn't you think?" He asked, turning to smile at her for a moment.

She smiles and hugs him as he looks at her. "That is great." She says to him softly as she just keeps hugging him. "I am so proud of you." She says to him softly. "Why dont you go buy that Apple Cider for us to celebrate with." She says to him softly. "The none alcoholic one." She says to him in a reminder.

Jeffrey chuckled as he drew the said bottle out of one of the bags. "Don't worry. I made sure of that!" He answered with a smile. "And yes, it's the non-alcoholic one." He added, smirking jovially as he set the bottle down on the table.

"Anyways, you said we got potato soup on deck for us tonight?" Jeffrey asked after a moment as he grabbed two glasses from the cupboard.

She smiles and kisses him on the cheek. "Of course. I thought I would try it out tonight before I do it at work." She says to him softly. "If its good then I want to put it on the menu at work." She explains to him softly as she pours it into the big soup bowl she has and pulls out two spoons. She pulls down two bowls and takes it to the table. She picks up the big soup bowl and takes it to the table with the spoons in her hand. She sets everything down on the table for them and starts serving it to him and herself.

Jeffrey smiled as he then sat down at the dinner table, watching as the meal was served by his mother. "Smells great." He answered as he carefully took the bowl and the spoon. Afterwards, he then placed the spoon into the soup and drew out one of the potatoes and blew on it to get it to cool off a little before he finally ate it.

"Hmm!" Jeffrey sounded with a nod. "Good stuff!" He said afterwards. "You put your secret herbs and spices to this, eh?" He asked her, laughing a little as he spoke.

She let out a soft laugh. "Oh no, I didnt. I just copied the ingredents off the box and made it myself from scratch." She explains to him as she sits down and starts eating as well. She like the taste of it since she made it from scratch.

"Oh come on, mom." Jeffrey answered teasingly, wagging the spoon at her after a moment. "I know you did something special to this. I've known you for it." He added, laughing jovially afterwards.

"Nah, I'm just kidding." Jeffrey finally spoke, waving a hand nonchalantly with a smile. "Besides, I know you did this from the box." He added.

She smiles softly at her son and got up. She grabbed the box and set it down in front of him. She pulled the bag out and showed him she didnt open the bag. "See, from scratch." She says to him soft.

Jeffrey looked at the bag for a moment, seeing that it wasn't opened at all. "Ah." Jeffrey said, pointing at his mother and wagging a finger at her. "Alright, I'll give you an out." He added, having been corrected then continued to eat.
